This is an outstanding opportunity for a manager with strong project management skills to join our Circular Design team with a focus on accelerating our work in the Fashion industry. You will use design methods and tools to develop and refine activities that support our strategic aims, particularly increasing the uptake and practice of circular design, working both within the circular design team and across specific Ellen MacArthur Foundation programmes.
The Circular Design Programme aims to inspire and support designers to redesign products, services and systems for the circular economy, where products are kept in use, waste is designed out and the environment is regenerated. The team works to develop tools, drive campaigns with influencers and media channels, and build a community to support designers in enabling this transition - all in close collaboration with a network of leading organisations in the Design sector.
Role & Responsibilities
You will be part of the Circular Design team working closely with the Fashion team to drive and deliver a project focused on engaging designers towards a circular economy. You will be part of delivering these objectives through the following activities:
Using research, ideation, prototyping, iterating, synthesising and reporting to test assumptions and answer key questions relating to the circular economy transition and the Foundation’s major areas of focus.
Working with the Circular Design team and wider Foundation teams to develop solutions to help reach relevant strategic aims of both the Design and the Fashion programmes.
Building on the Foundation’s existing assets and knowledge to create stimulus, such as workshops, visuals, presentations, concepts, stories, or narratives, that promote Circular Design practice and help key Foundation audiences understand how to apply circular economy in practice.
Working with organisations in the Foundation’s network to mobilise design and creative teams, inspiring a more design-led approach to the circular economy transition.
Synthesising learnings to improve collective understanding of how design accelerates the transition to a circular economy.
Taking a methodical and detailed approach to planning and executing research projects. Using communication skills and curiosity to connect with users, colleagues, and stakeholders, often in the Foundation’s network and wider audiences.
A good academic record and Bachelor’s degree-level qualifications, preferably in design or fashion
At least 5+ years’ experience of managing a project or campaign with a strong relationship management and community engagement component and a high level of independence.
Experience of inspiring, engaging and managing relationships with senior stakeholders in the Design or Fashion sector.
Knowledge and expertise of design processes in the Fashion sector, from working with corporate or agency design teams.
The analytical and creative skills to plan, create, and evolve circular design tools and resources aimed at key stakeholders within the Fashion sector.
An entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable with a high level of ambiguity.

What we do
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation develops and promotes the idea of a circular economy. We work with, and inspire, business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
Our vision is a new economic system that delivers better outcomes for people and the environment. Business models, products, and materials are designed to increase use and reuse, replicating the balance of the natural world, where nothing becomes waste and everything has value. A circular economy, increasingly built on renewable energy and materials, is distributed, diverse, and inclusive.
