The Global Commitment has united more than 500 organisations behind a common vision of a circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. for plastics, with the goal to tackle plastic pollution at its source.
Since 2018 the signatories, which include companies that together represent 20% of all plastic packaging produced globally, such as well-known consumer businesses L’Oréal; MARS; Nestlé; PepsiCo; The Coca-Cola Company; and Unilever; the world’s largest retailer - Walmart; major packaging producers such as Amcor and Berry Global; and two of the largest resource management specialists - Veolia and Suez - have reported on their progress towards ambitious 2025 targets.
