The world’s leading circular economy network
Our Network brings together business, innovators, universities, and thought leaders to build and...
Institution: University of California Davis / UC Davis
Location: Davis, California, United States
Focus Area: Industrial Ecology
Expertise: Exploring applications of industrial ecology in a variety of systems including food, energy, and transportation
The Industrial Ecology Network is a programme geared towards providing skills, training, and industrial ecology applications, focusing on the system perspective, materials, manufacturing, and the circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature..
Industrial Ecology (IE) Graduate Academic Certificate (GAC) provides graduate students of UC Davis with skills in industrial ecology principles and methods. The certificate requirements are multidisciplinary, preparing students to assess and design human systems in a sustainable manner and bridging an essential gap in multidisciplinary training at UC Davis, connecting the study of the built environment, technology and engineering systems, environmental health sciences, and agricultural sciences. Manufacturing and Sustainable Technologies Research (MASTeR): This is a remanufacturing academic and research design program that focuses on investigating physical mechanisms in abrasive machining and their impact on the product life cycle and digitizing the process knowledge to enable smart manufacturing. Find out more.
Energy Graduate Group: Academic and research-based program focusing on renewable energyrenewable energyEnergy derived from resources that are not depleted on timescales relevant to the economy, i.e. not geological timescales., transportation fuels, and energy efficiency. This program offers masters and PhD level degrees in two main tracks: Energy Science and Technology and Energy Policy and Management. Find out more.
Food Loss and Waste Collaborative: A data-driven academic and research program for food system life-cycle assessment. The program focuses on the recovery of high-value and nutritious secondary and tertiary products. For select foods material streams, the research investigates the balance of combined objectives of reducing disposal and recovery of high-value products (for example, soil amendments, graywater) and generating renewable fuels and electricity.
