Activities and progress made on elimination
Coster has continued implementing the LCA calculation model, which is used to screen the products and provide robust elements to eco designing the items also under the problematic and unnecessary plastics perspective. The R&I and technical departments worked to designing lightened solutions in particular regarding plastic spraycaps and actuators. Regarding unnecessary plastic, we have worked at innovative solutions to remove the micromist insert in specific spray applications. With regard to problematic plastic: We have made progress in the activity for removing POM from micromist inserts and from the inseparable components of dispenser pumps where it could hinder the recyclability of the whole system. We have worked to solutions to eliminate inseparable alu foil from multilayers films of bag-on-valves We have implemented the clip for dispenser pumps made 100% in PP instead of POM We have homologated the NIR detectable black masterbatch to replace the standard carbon black based one.

Planned actions on elimination
Coster's primary commitment is supporting our customers to achieve their targets and programs concerning plastic reduction and elimination where problematic in the finished packaging item. Coster builds its action strategy on the solid base of products LCA implemented internally, inputs collection and output consultation with the customer prior to implementation. We will go on looking for design features to reduce our product's weight, with a focus on plastic spraycaps and actuators. We will then continue working on projects to remove plastic components like the micromist insert in specific applications. Depending on the application, Coster will pursue the POM reduction or eradication starting from valves and dispenser pumps, since disrupting the PET stream of recycling.

Activities and progress made on reuse
Due to the nature of the Coster business, the reuse models are bound by the final customers' strategies regarding the finished product which is put on the market. Coster has therefore gathered the interests and challenges from the market and analysed the technical opportunities to switch some product lines also to reusable solutions. Thus, in the reporting period, Coster Packaging and Machinery Divisions worked at an innovative solution to design a refill on the go station for an aerosol product line. We are tracking the interest from customers about this prototype solution, which will have the potential to save up to 330 tons of plastic packaging per year (ref to reporting year).

Other 2025 reuse goals
Implementing reuse models across a minimum number of product lines: 3 product lines (43% of total)
See endnotes for more information on the above target(s)
Planned actions on reuse
From the internal perspective, Coster is working on reusing plastic containers for internal and external goods transportation. Coster will look for new partnership with suppliers and customers to develop such initiatives in the logistic and supply chain.
100% reusable, recyclable and/or compostable plastic packaging
Progress made over the reporting period
Share of plastic packaging that is reusable, recyclable or compostable (2020)
Actions and progress made to make packaging recyclable or compostable (see previous section for progress on shifting to reusable packaging)
Development of compressed air delivery system made of aerosol valves and micromist solutions. Working at easy-off spraycaps and actuators solutions from cans, to facilitate the manual removing for the end user Working at full-plastic pump models for 100% recyclability in practice and at scale. Research and testing monomaterial laminate (multi-layers) films for aerosol application. Working at problematic plastics removal from packaging: carbon black based masterbatch and POM from pumps and valves. Submissions of pumps to qualified institutes to make certified verification and examination of our products recyclability, according to law provisions, recognised criteria and real recycling solutions in practice and at scale.
Actions and progress made on collaborating towards increasing recycling and composting rates for plastic packaging
In the reporting period Coster has visited a plastic recycling company, to understand the process and specific requirements for successful recycling. Coster joined the PetCore Europe task force under the Plastic Aerosol Recycling Special Industry Group. As well, we have worked with the Aerosol Recycling work Group created by the French CFA, member of the FEA, with the aim to identify the proper recycling channels and measuring the current recycled amount of aerosol in the local markets. Coster partnered with customers to develop exclusive product solutions intended to increase the recyclability of specific product lines in aerosol.

2025 target
100% reusable, recyclable or compostable
Planned actions to make packaging recyclable or compostable
Coster will continue studying and developing the solutions to facilitate the manual removing of caps and actuators from the can. We will implement monomaterial solutions in the laminate films application. Our commitment is to develop green versions of monomaterial pumps, also removing the problematic materials like POM Coster will continue working with customers to develop opportunities to include the aerosol valves in the circular economy also concerning plastic.
Planned actions on collaborating towards increasing recycling and composting rates for plastic packaging
We will involve qualified institutes to make certified verification and examination of our products recyclability, according to law provisions, real recycling options in practice and at scale, recognised definitions and criteria. We will collaborate with the local associations to figure out the plastic disposal and recovery scenarios and their changes on local base by Country or region, for the purpose of improving our product design accordingly.

We will implement PCR solution on dip-tubes of our valves and pumps. Coster will work with the customers to fulfil their inputs on using recycled content according to their programs, strategies and targets. We will therefore investigate and look at rolling out the PCR use in other applications and components, by working on the adverse effects like color and odors and taking account of the conditions concerning the regulatory aspects, quality and safety standards, materials availability constraints. We will explore the market and work with suppliers, research centers and associations to identify PCR solution suitable for our products features. Also, we will explore, test and sponsor solutions promoted by the suppliers who implemented alternative or new solutions to recycle, also chemically, materials and reaction products like CO2. We will implement the mass balance approach concerning bio-based and chemically PCR materials.

Additional details on investments
Investments have been addressed to R&I to the research of new recyclable solutions (design, testing and tooling arrangement) and to test PCR materials onto current products portfolio. Also, Investments have been made on LCA tool, training and development to run the internal calculation model.
End notes
Interpreting the quantitative data submitted
By selecting "Others" in the category of plastic packaging in our portfolio, we mean multimaterial items like aerosol valves, pumps, actuators and spraycaps which don't fit the definitions of the listed categories.
Plastic packaging designed for recycling
Our Spray caps & actuators are a mix of polyolefins resins (PE and PP) with an amount of POM content < 1% in weight. This packaging can be removed by the end user from the system and can be addressed to the recycling stream of PE and PP. Our pumps for plastic bottles consists of all the dispenser pumps and spray pumps (excluding perfumery one) used in application with plastic bottle. These pumps are a mix of polyolefins resins (PE and PP) with an amount of POM content < 5% in weight. These multi-material pumps can be screwed onto PET, PE or PP bottles and will therefore assigned to the relevant stream of recycling.
Product line definition
For product line(s) with reuse model(s) to be introduced or expanded: By product line we mean a family of product manufactured by Coster and designed for specific application or market sector. The product lines concerned by reuse solutions are bag-on-valves, spray & dispenser pumps.
