The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has announced the launch of a new learning resource, A Future Without Waste, created in partnership with the LEGO Group. As part of the LEGO Group's Build the Change programme, this resource uses a learning through play approach to inspire the next generation (ages 7-12) of circular economy pioneers.

A Future Without Waste is all about getting creative and having fun with the circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature.. It invites students to start building the change we need to see by reimagining a world where communities, nature and businesses can thrive alongside each other.

Provides Educators with everything needed to run five linked 45-minute Learning through Play sessions + a special “Showcase Day” event.
Hands-on creation activities are designed to use materials destined for the trash, in keeping with the theme of circular reusereuseThe repeated use of a product or component for its intended purpose without significant modification. and repurposing.
Includes new LEGO-brick animations introducing the concept of the circular economy in an engaging and accessible way for children (and grownups!)
Three stories of change explore the three pillars of the circular economy – eliminating waste, circulating resources to keep them in use for longer, and regenerating nature
Final “Big Challenge” introduces the grim town of Grimsville and invites children to solve its problems by applying everything they’ve learned about the circular economy
