Activities and progress made
Gemini focuses on creation of local collection and recycling infrastructure to reduce plastic waste and increase recycling rate of both Ocean-bound and Earth-bound Plastic waste. We have created a state-of-the-art technology to capture the entire value chain. We have created provision of Baling / Grinding and Sorting machines to Collectors & Aggregators. We have also installed Recycling Machinery – Extruders, Grinders, Shredders, Sorters and Blown Film Machines to create strategic partnerships with local Recycler and Converter network for efficient use of the Logistics. The chairman, Mr. Surendra Patawari is a board member of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW), member of the World Economic Forum’s - Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), Chairman of the CEO-led Global Plastic Taskforce that is directly led by His Royal Highness, Prince Charles.
Planned actions by 2025
Target
We want to double our recycling target to 400,000 tonnes by 2025 of which we commit to supply 100,000 tonnes of recycled plastics for packaging application by 2025. We intend to create infrastructure for collection sorting and recycling of more than 50,000 tonnes of plastics by 2025, through our subsidiary Gemcorp Recycling & Technologies Private Limited.
Planned actions
We are working towards improving and expanding our infrastructure to bring more people from the unorganized sector into the mainstream. We are actively working towards replicating the collection model in multiple locations across the globe. We already have a network of collectors and strategic partnerships with 25 recycling units across India, and we are keen on expanding our reach. What makes our approach stand out is how we incentivize the collection system which motivated the reclaimers to collect more materials. We have partnered with many big companies for collection of their scrap and recycling it. We will seek to sensitize more companies about circular economy and increasing adaptation of the circular paradigm.
