Organisation: International Resource Panel
Focus Area: The International Resource Panel (IRP) is a global science-policy platform focused on the use of natural resources and their environmental impacts. It is hosted by UN Environment to provide and share knowledge on science-based policy options on how to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation while enhancing human well-being.
The International Resource Panel (IRP) supports the development of a strategy for 21st Century urbanisation through parallel actions on urban planning, sustainable design and resource efficient components, new governance models, and politics of new imaginative business propositions and experimentation.
The IRP has developed a scientific assessment entitled “The Weight of Cities: Resource Requirements of Future Urbanisation” The IRP also collaborated with UN Environment on the development of a regional report based on the IRP global findings of “The Weight of Cities”, entitled “Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Transitions in the ASEAN Region: A Resource Perspective”.
