We are proud to reveal that we have received £1.25 million from People’s Postcode Lottery Dream Fund award 2022!
The award will be used to launch and deliver an iconic Food Challenge which aims to bring nature-positive food to supermarket shelves within two years. The project will see the Foundation join forces with the Sustainable Food Trust to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss with the circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature..
Imagine walking into your favourite supermarket, and with every item you buy, nature becomes a little better. The nature positive food challenge is set to reshape how food is designed, grown, and marketed, working with high-profile innovators, brands and retailers to accelerate scalable solutions to climate change and biodiversity loss in the food industry.
This is the third time the Foundation has won a People’s Postcode Lottery Dream Fund award, and we are once again thrilled to be the recipients of their continued support as we work to shift the economy into one that is regenerative by design.
Andrew Morlet — CEO, Ellen MacArthur Foundation
People’s Postcode Lottery first funded the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in 2016, supporting its core work as well as key systemic initiatives. In the same year, the Foundation was awarded £500 thousand to support its first systemic project on plastic packaging, which led to the launch of the New Plastics Economy, and in 2019 a further £1 million from the Dream Fund supported Make fashion Circular and The Jeans Redesign. This year's funding, again, ensures that the foundation can continue its work to accelerate the transition toward a circular economy, this time in the Food industry.
People’s Postcode Lottery began in 2008 and operates across England, Scotland and Wales. To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £900 million for charities, with a number of deserving charities awarded funding every week.
In supporting the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, players of People’s Postcode Lottery join other philanthropic partners, The Schmidt Family Foundation, SUN and MAVA, together with our wide network of leading businesses, universities, governments and cities in supporting the transition to a circular economy.
