The Circular EconomyCircular EconomyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. Cafe by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a cafe and demonstration space at the New York Times Climate Hub, held alongside COP26, showcasing circular economy solutions in action — including circular food and drinks for people to sample.
We have been welcoming guests for coffee and conversation — including Stephen Jamieson from SAP, Karrie Denniston from Walmart, and Johan Rockstrom from the Potsdam Institute — who spoke about the need for a systems level transformation that encompasses the economy, the environment, and society, and why the future must be circular.
The Circular Economy Cafe will be open each day until 6th November. We’ll be hosting a series of sessions over the next few days on topics including circular design, the role of innovators in driving the circular economy transition, and the future of food — take a look at the program for further information.
