Waste and pollution are not accidents. They are the consequences of decisions made at the design stage. To change the system we need to change how we design. This session will gather some of the most inspiring stories from the generation already leading the way. We will be joined by Seetal Solanki, founder of Ma-tt-er, design entrepreneur and author of the book Why Materials Matter and Kamonnart Ong, co-founder of Moreloop, fashion designer & lecturer at Chulalongkorn Design University. We will also hear from the winners of the RSA Student Design Awards 2019, Maire Kane and Hannah Grogan, who applied circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. principles to design a reusable medical device.
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation works to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. We develop and promote the idea of a circular economy, and work with business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally.
