Many of the most commonly cited examples of circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. today are European based, whilst many other common examples come from the US. But what will the circular look like in a more diverse range of contexts? One story that hints at a different model is the story of Kabadiwalla Connect. Siddharth Hande was studying flows of materials in the informal economy when he stumbled upon a business opportunity and identified the networks as potential circular economy supply chains if they could be incentivised in the right way. Kabadiwalla Connect operates in India and Indonesia and is already working with large businesses including Unilever and Danone. Watch Siddharth in conversation with the Foundation's Libby Finch.
