The Circular Economy in Cities: resources suite
A suite of resources for urban policymakers and change-makers.
The CEC Organisers programme has over 170 volunteers who have opened CEC chapters in their cities in order to raise awareness of the circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. and bring together the local community to start proposals for the design and implementation of a local circular economy strategy.
Twice a year, CEC organises a global event during a week in which all CEC Organisers worldwide organise a similar session. In 2018, the club celebrated the Circular Economy Mapping Week in 45 countries worldwide. Over 2,100 participants identified 3,000 circular economy solutions and initiatives which the club made publicly available right after.
In 2019, CEC is organising the Circular Economy Cities Week, during which we invite circular economy supporters to organise a session in their cities to discuss with key stakeholders the design and implementation of a circular economy local strategy.
