Dame Ellen MacArthur joined Her Excellency Mariam Al Mheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, at the inaugural UAE Circular EconomyCircular EconomyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. Forum at COP28. In a conversation held at the UAE Pavilion, and moderated by the Foundation’s Executive Lead, Policy and Institutions, Joss Bleriot, they discussed the vital role of the circular economy in climate action, and how policy and finance can drive transformation. The subsequent panel explored experiences and upcoming opportunities in finance, policy, and business with speakers from Intesa Sanpaolo, UN-ESCWA, and Deloitte. It was moderated by the UAE Ministry of Economy and closed by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
