As a charity, our income is used to further our mission to accelerate the transition to a circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature.. We are not a grant making organisation.
Our funding comes from philanthropic organisations, such as charitable foundations, and businesses which access our circular economy events, knowledge exchange, tools and resources through our Network.
The diversity of our funding sources is important, since we will only achieve our mission if we’re able to set an ambitious agenda, and goals that are independent of our funders or any other stakeholders.
There are many ways to support the Foundation philanthropically:
Support from trusts, foundations and major donors
We are hugely grateful to our philanthropic partners, with whom we have built many highly impactful, long-term partnerships. Grants from these organisations help us to achieve important outcomes across all our strategic geographies, for example progress made in tackling plastic waste and pollution through our plastics initiative and Global Commitment programme – as reported in our Global Commitment: Five Years In publication. We seek to build a diverse range of funding sources and secure both project-based and unrestricted funding, which is critical to deliver the scale of impact needed to tackle global challenges.

One-off donations
We also welcome one-off individual or corporate donations. If you are interested in supporting the Foundation in this way please contact the Donations Team at donations@emf.org
